The table is a place for stories that bring us together. Here's ours.
The Legendary Biryani
Our mission is to serve delicious food in a small but powerful way of humans experiencing happiness. What started as a delicacy in the royal kitchens of the Nizam (King) of Hyderabad and would be served as the centerpiece of wedding feasts has now enthralled the Indian population of all strata for centuries.
Greenville's Award Winning Tikka Masala Sauce
When it comes to Tikka Masala, the age-old question is, is it British or Indian? Originally, the chicken tikka was made in the clay oven and served dry, but the masala sauce was added to satisfy the desire of the British to have their meat served in gravy.
In 2019, Perses entered the annual music and food festival, Fall for Greenville, for the first time. We had the honor of winning an award for our Tikka Masala Sauce out of 50 other entries. In 2021, Perses also won the Silver Spoon - 2nd Place for our South Indian "Dosa."
Origins of Chicken 65
Chicken 65 originated from the Tamil Nadu state in South India in 1965. There are multiple theories on why it was named Chicken "65".
One story says this Chicken dish was a part of a long menu and was #65 on the list. Another story suggests that the chef put 65 spices when marinating the chicken. Others say it was made with 65 hot chilly peppers as a testament of manliness.
